How Manchester City could line up against Everton

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester City could line up for their midweek trip to Everton in the Premier League.

Manchester City return to action on Wednesday evening with a trip to Everton in the second of three tough tests in the space of a week.

The Citizens beat Arsenal 3-1 on Sunday to revive their Premier League title hopes and have Chelsea to come at the Etihad Stadium later this week.

First, though, is this showdown with Everton in midweek, which was rearranged late on due to City's run to the final of the EFL Cup.

Ahead of the clash at Goodison Park, Sports Mole looks at how the visitors could line up.

Out: Vincent Kompany (muscle), Claudio Bravo (Achilles), Eliaquim Mangala (knee)
Doubtful: Benjamin Mendy (knee)

Because of the quick turnaround in fixtures, Pep Guardiola is expected to make changes to his starting lineup for Wednesday's meeting.

Leroy Sane watched on from the bench against Arsenal, not needed as City cruised to the three points, while Riyad Mahrez was only given a couple of minutes at the end.

Both players can expect to be recalled, then, with Raheem Sterling likely to be given a breather after setting up two goals against the Gunners.

Guardiola must decide whether to stick with in-form striker Sergio Aguero or bring in Gabriel Jesus, who scored two goals in the reverse meeting between these sides two months ago.

Elsewhere, John Stones was surprisingly benched against Arsenal as Guardiola instead used Fernandinho alongside Nicolas Otamendi at centre-back, with Aymeric Laporte shifted out to left-back.

Assuming Mendy does not recover from his latest layoff in time, Fabian Delph or Oleksandr Zinchenko are in contention to fill in at Goodison Park, allowing Laporte to move back into the middle.
