Man City injury, suspension news and return dates for Plymouth FA Cup clash: Grealish, Stones, Akanji, Bobb, Rodri latest

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's injury and suspension news ahead of their FA Cup fifth-round clash with Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

Eyeing up FA Cup glory to end their turbulent season on a high, Manchester City welcome Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle to the Etihad Stadium for a fifth-round tie on Saturday evening.

The Citizens bounced back from their 2-0 home defeat to Premier League leaders Liverpool last weekend by beating Tottenham Hotspur by a 1-0 scoreline on Wednesday night.

Erling Haaland returned from injury to score the only goal of the game, equalling two scoring records in the process, and Man City have now climbed back into the top four, one point clear of Chelsea in fifth with 11 top-flight fixtures remaining.

Pep Guardiola's side will now shift their focus to the FA Cup, and here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Miron Muslic's side.

Rodri

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Rodri sustained an ACL injury in a 2-2 Premier League draw with Arsenal back in September and was ruled out for the rest of the season. However, the Spaniard has continued to provide positive updates on his rehabilitation, suggesting he could return before the campaign comes to a close, and the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner has now returned to individual training.

Manuel Akanji

Type of injury: Abductor
Possible return date: April 19 (vs. Everton)

Manuel Akanji has undergone successful surgery on an abductor injury sustained on February 11 and the defender is set to remain sidelined until the middle of April.

John Stones

Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

John Stones has missed Man City's last two games since being forced off with a thigh injury against Real Madrid in the Champions League, and the defender is believed to be facing at least eight weeks on the sidelines.

Oscar Bobb

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle/fitness
Possible return date: March 1 (vs. Plymouth)

After more than six months out with a leg fracture, Oscar Bobb had been gradually building up his fitness in training before picking up a minor ankle issue, which has set him back slightly in his recovery. It remains to be seen when the attacker will return to the first-team fold, but Guardiola recently issued a positive update on the Norwegian's recovery.

Jack Grealish
