Pep Guardiola has revealed that Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is on course for a swifter-than-anticipated return to action.
The Belgium international was expected to miss up to four months when damaging his knee ligaments in a training session in the opening week of the season.
De Bruyne will join his teammates in training from the start of next week, however, meaning that he could be in contention for a competitive comeback before the end of October.
"He's making the last steps," he told reporters at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion. "He'll start taking a small part in training in the next days I think. Everything is going well."
De Bruyne played a direct part in 24 Premier League goals in 2017-18 to earn City's Player of the Year award.
