James Milner: 'Manchester City can cope without Sergio Aguero'

James Milner is convinced that Manchester City have the strength in depth to deal with the injury to in-form striker Sergio Aguero.

James Milner has insisted that Manchester City have enough quality to cope in the absence of in-form striker Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine, who has struck 19 goals in 21 City games this season, could miss up to a month with a knee injury after limping off in Saturday's 1-0 win over Everton.

Striker Edin Dzeko earned a half-hour cameo against the Toffees for his first appearance in five weeks, and Milner says that the Bosnian can minimise the effects of losing Aguero.

"Sergio is a world-class player, one of the best on the planet, and has been absolutely outstanding, so the injury has come at a bad time," he told The Mirror.

"People can say whatever they want, if they think we're a one-man team. Some people have been saying Chelsea have won the league, 10 games in, and here we are with a three-point gap.

"Losing a player like Sergio will be a big miss for us. Hopefully he'll be back sooner rather than later, but Edin coming back is a positive, and he's a fantastic goalscorer."

Manuel Pellegrini's side face a key Champions League clash away to Roma on Tuesday knowing that victory would see them move into the last 16 of the competition.
