Kevin De Bruyne is expected to miss between two and four months with the knee injury sustained in training on Wednesday, according to a report.

Manchester City reportedly expect Kevin De Bruyne to return from the knee injury sustained in training on Wednesday in just over two months.

The Citizens confirmed earlier today that the Belgium international, who only recently returned to training following his World Cup exploits, is to undergo a scan to determine the extent of the damage.

De Bruyne is understood to have torn the ligaments in his right knee in what is described as a freak accident, which is nearly identical to the injury he suffered in January 2016 against Everton.

According to The Telegraph, an identical layoff of around nine weeks is also expected this time, but the worst-case scenario is that the 27-year-old will remain absent until mid-December.

The report also suggests that City are likely to send De Bruyne to Barcelona for treatment by doctor Ramon Cugat, who dealt with his recovery 31 months ago.
