Micah Richards reveals that it is an "honour" to represent Great Britain at the Olympic Games, after his call-up by manager Stuart Pearce.

Manchester City full-back Micah Richards has revealed that it is an "honour" to represent Great Britain at the upcoming Olympic Games.

Richards has said that despite not being called up to Roy Hodgson's Euro 2012 squad he jumped at the chance to represent his country at the Olympics.

Richards said: "I didn't get picked [for Euro 2012] and once I wasn't picked in the squad this chance with GB came around and I wanted to go to the Games.

"It is always an honour to represent your country. It's not just England, it's GB so it is something new.

"When Stuart Pearce rang me and asked if I wanted to be involved, I jumped at the chance."

Richards has played 13 times for England.
