Gareth Barry says that Manchester City teammate Carlos Tevez rarely lets off-field issues affect him on the pitch.

Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has revealed that teammate Carlos Tevez rarely lets negative issues affect him on the pitch.

The Argentina international was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified last week, but responded by netting a hat-trick in City's 5-0 win over Barnsley in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

"It takes a lot to take Carlos's mind off football and get him agitated," ESPN quotes Barry as saying. "If you had seen him at training this week, it's as though he has got no problems away from the pitch.

"Nothing really fazes him. In general, if a football player has problems off the pitch the best place to be to get rid of them is on it, either in training or in the stadium. It can certainly help take your mind off them for 90 minutes anyway."

Tevez's contract at the Etihad Stadium expires at the end of next season.
