West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic: 'Dimitri Payet can be our David Silva'

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic says that he believes Dimitri Payet can deliver the level of quality that David Silva has produced during his career at Manchester City.

Slaven Bilic has claimed that Dimitri Payet has the ability to become West Ham United's version of Manchester City playmaker David Silva.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to his career with the Hammers following his £10.7m from Marseille as he has notched three goals in his first five matches in the Premier League.

Hammers boss Bilic told reporters: "The difference between Payet and Silva is that Silva has been doing it here for four years now – while Payet has done it for five games.

"He has to do it on a longer scale – which I think I will.

"If he stays calm and motivated which is also part of our job – and he doesn't get carried away by the headlines he's making – then he will get to that level."

West Ham are fifth in the Premier League ahead of their game against City later today.
