Everton manager David Moyes says that the club made the right decision to sell midfielder Jack Rodwell to Manchester City.

Everton manager David Moyes has insisted that the Toffees made the right decision to let midfielder Jack Rodwell leave the club.

The 21-year-old signed for Premier League champions Manchester City at the weekend for a reported £15m fee.

"I had known about it for a while and I thought it was something that was right for Jack and right for Everton," said Moyes.

"It gives us a chance to do a little bit more business in the transfer market having raised the money. Hopefully I will try to add to the squad before the season starts."

The blue half of Merseyside will begin the new Premier League season with a clash against Manchester United on Monday.
