Samir Nasri backing Franck Ribery for Ballon d'Or

Manchester City playmaker Samir Nasri says that France teammate Franck Ribery will win the Ballon d'Or next year.

Manchester City playmaker Samir Nasri has tipped Franck Ribery to win the 2015 Ballon d'Or.

The Bayern Munich winger missed out on this year's award as Lionel Messi finished second to Cristiano Ronaldo, but Nasri believes that his France teammate can finish on top next year.

Nasri told RMC Sport: "I talked with Franck Ribery the evening of the ceremony of the Ballon d'Or. He told me just before he knew he would not have it.

"Obviously, he was a little disappointed because he deserved it given his season. I told him he still had a great year, and if we win the World Cup then there will be no debate next season.

"Franck is a leader and he must be an example for a lot of players. Playing at this level and to be able to compete with Messi and Ronaldo - who are like aliens - it must be an example for all young people who make mistakes from time to time."

Bayern are currently top of the Bundesliga.
