Manuel Pellegrini: 'Manchester City title hopes not over yet'

Manuel Pellegrini calls on his Manchester City players to take inspiration from the past as they seek to overcome a six-point deficit over league leaders Liverpool.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has called on his players to take inspiration from the Citizens side that won the Premier League title two seasons ago.

City dropped points at home to Sunderland on Wednesday night in a 2-2 draw, leaving them six points off leaders Liverpool.

Despite this, Pellegrini remains confident that the Sky Blues can replicate the form of 2011-12 when the club went on to win the title in the dying seconds of the season.

"We have to play five games more so we continue having chances, less chances than before this game, but we continue having chances," the Chilean is quoted as saying by BT Sport.

"Remember this team two years ago were six points behind the leaders and they won the title at the end. So it is difficult - but it is not the last game we play today."

City are back in action on Monday night when they take on West Bromwich Albion.
