Platt: 'We don't need confidence boost'

Manchester City assistant boss David Platt insists that the Premier League outfit "don't need" an injection of confidence.

Manchester City assistant manager David Platt has insisted that the North-West side are full of confidence, despite an inconsistent season.

The blue half of Manchester are expected to relinquish the Premier League title to their red neighbours due to Manchester United's 12-point lead at the top of the table.

While some have suggested that City's 2-1 victory over United on Monday has provided them with a confidence surge for the end of the season, Platt has claimed otherwise.

"We don't need confidence boosters," the Manchester Evening News quotes Platt as saying. "People will talk about that but we get confidence boosts every day when we see each other on the training pitch.

"This is a very, very talented group of individuals that showed on Monday night what a good team they are but also what belief they have in themselves."

While a title triumph is unlikely, City could finish the season with silverware as they prepare for an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea on Sunday.
