Swansea City boss Carlos Carvalhal congratulates Manchester City on winning the Premier League title and confirms his team will give them a guard of honour on Sunday.

Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal has confirmed that his players will give Manchester City a guard of honour on Sunday.

The Swans travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Pep Guardiola's side, who play their first game since winning the Premier League title.

Swansea desperately need points as they fight against the drop, but Carvalhal acknowledges that his charges will find it tough against a side he considers very worthy champions.

"Congratulations to Manchester City, Pep Guardiola and all the players," the Portuguese told reporters on Thursday. "They deserve to be champions, they are the best team in the competition. We are proud to do the guard of honour for them. They play fantastic football.

"I am very happy and I think a lot of people from the tribe of football are happy to live these kinds of moments, when you have managers like [Jose] Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, players like [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi - this belongs to the gods of football.

"I am very happy to be part of this football nowadays, because not all the generations have two great managers and two great players. Pep is a fantastic manager and he will be remembered forever. People said his type of football would only work in Barcelona and he has proved the opposite. Good football can win in different places."

Following their trip to Man City, Swansea will wrap up their season with games against Chelsea, Bournemouth, Southampton and Stoke City.
