Mark Hughes: 'Small errors cost us a point'

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes believes that his side made mistakes at the wrong time which cost them a point their defeat to Manchester City in their Premier League clash.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes believes that a "couple of errors" cost his side a point in their Premier League clash with Manchester City.

City secured their win thanks to a strike from Yaya Toure in the 70th minute of the game, after the Potters had held their own for the majority of the fixture at the Etihad Stadium.

Hughes told BBC Sport: "We are disappointed because we put in a huge effort. We were excellent in the first half.

"We came here with a gameplan and we executed it really well. I thought we were a threat on the break when we regained possession and out of possession we were organised. They found us really hard to break down.

"In the end, we have just made a couple of errors which led to the goal and they were grateful to get the goal and the three points. In terms of performance we have to be happy but it was not the result we wanted."

Stoke are 14th in the Premier League after their defeat and are just three points clear of the relegation zone.
