Team News: Kevin De Bruyne on bench for Manchester City

British record signing Kevin De Bruyne is on the bench for Manchester City for their Premier League match at Crystal Palace

British record signing Kevin De Bruyne is on the bench for Manchester City for this afternoon's Premier League match at Crystal Palace.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini has resisted the temptation to throw the former Wolfsburg man straight into his starting team, despite the absence of David Silva, with Samir Nasri instead preferred.

Raheem Sterling has been left out of the squad as a precaution after picking up a knock, but Wilfried Bony returns from injury to partner Sergio Aguero in attack.

In defence, Bacary Sagna has shaken off an ankle knock sustained while on international duty for France to start at right-back, while new arrival Nicolas Otamendi has to settle for a place alongside De Bruyne on the bench.

For Palace, there are three changes as Martin Kelly and Brede Hangeland replace injured pair Joel Ward and Damien Delaney in defence, while Yannick Bolasie comes in for the absent Connor Wickham up front.

Mile Jedinak is fit enough only for a place on the bench after a hamstring problem, while Fraizer Campbell also returns as a substitute.

Crystal Palace: McCarthy; Kelly, Dann, Hangeland, Souare; McArthur, Cabaye; Zaha, Puncheon, Sako; Bolasie
Subs: Hennessey, Mariappa, Jedinak, Lee, Mutch, Gayle, Campbell

Manchester City: Hart; Sagna, Kompany, Mangala, Kolarov; Fernandinho, Toure, Nasri, Navas; Bony, Aguero
Subs: Caballero, Demichelis, Otamendi, Garcia, Roberts, Iheanacho, De Bruyne
