How Manchester City could line up against Leicester City

Ahead of Monday night's Premier League meeting between Manchester City and Leicester City, Sports Mole looks at how the reigning champions could line up.

Manchester City are now within two victories of becoming the first side in a decade to retain the Premier League title.

The Citizens have won 12 top-flight matches in a row and now need to overcome Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion in their final two games.

City's quadruple hopes were ended with a Champions League quarter-final loss to Tottenham Hotspur a fortnight ago, but that has at least given them a full week's rest from their nervy 1-0 win against Burnley last weekend.

Ahead of Monday's meeting with Leicester, Sports Mole looks at how the defending champions could line up.

Possible MCI XI vs. LEI

Out: Kevin De Bruyne (hamstring), Claudio Bravo (Achilles)
Doubtful: Fernandinho (knee), Benjamin Mendy (knee)

City will be without De Bruyne for a third match running because of a hamstring injury and Fernandinho is also a major fitness doubt with a knee problem.

The Citizens have dealt with the key midfield duo's absence well, though, with Ilkay Gundogan doing a good job in holding midfield and Bernardo Silva providing some creativity from deep.

Bernardo's redeployment into central midfield will again open up a gap in the forward line, which Leroy Sane looks likely to occupy.

Mendy's injury-plagued spell at the Etihad Stadium continues, meanwhile, so Oleksandr Zinchenko is expected to continue operating at left-back.

One of the first names on the team sheet will be Sergio Aguero, who has scored 15 Premier League home goals for City this season - only in 2011-12 (16) has he scored more at the Etihad in a single campaign in the competition.
