Borussia Dortmund sign Jayden Braaf from Manchester City on free transfer

Borussia Dortmund complete the signing of Manchester City's academy star Jayden Braaf on a free transfer, with the winger putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Manchester City winger Jayden Braaf on a free transfer.

The 19-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga outfit after he was allowed to leave the Etihad Stadium despite having a year remaining on his contract.

Braaf was regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Europe when he joined City's academy from PSV Eindhoven in 2018, and in 2020 he was named the club's Under-23 Player of the Season.

However, the Dutchman grew frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities under Pep Guardiola and he was eventually frozen out of the academy side before joining Serie A outfit Udinese on loan in January 2021.

Braaf scored his first professional goal in his fourth and final game for the Italian side before suffering a serious knee injury in May that year, which has kept him out for the last 12 months.

Although the teenage winger had success with City's academy side, he leaves Man City having failed to make a single senior appearance for the club.

On Instagram, Braaf posted a video of his highlights with the club as well as a farewell message, which read: "I want to say a huge thank you to everyone at Man City for the faith and support they've shown in me over the last few years.

"I've grown both personally and professionally and wouldn't be where I am today without their guidance. To my teammates, the academy staff and the fans, thank you!

"A big SO to Nick Oakley for working with me on my rehab and bringing me in the position I'm in now. All the best for the future."

Braaf made a total of 42 appearances for City's youth teams, scoring 12 goals and registering four assists.
