Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci 'turns down Manchester City move'

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci reportedly turns down the chance to join Manchester City as he wants to work under former teammate Andrea Pirlo.

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has reportedly turned down the chance to join Manchester City.

The 33-year-old has regularly been linked with a switch to the Etihad Stadium since Pep Guardiola took over, and City are again on the lookout for defensive reinforcements this summer despite having already brought in Nathan Ake.

Sky Sport Italia reports that Man City have made a fresh approach for Bonucci this summer, but that the veteran centre-back has insisted that he has no intention of leaving Juve.

Bonucci is reportedly looking forward to the prospect of working under former Juventus and Italy teammate Andrea Pirlo, who replaced Maurizio Sarri in charge of the Serie A champions earlier this month.

The long-serving defender still has four years remaining on his current contract at the Allianz Stadium and is thought to want to end his career in Turin.

Bonucci has made 407 appearances for Juventus in total over two spells, having briefly left to join AC Milan for one year in 2017-18.
