Manchester City extend Frank Lampard deal

Frank Lampard extends his loan deal at Manchester City until the end of the season after an agreement was reached with parent club New York City FC.

Manchester City have extended the loan deal of Frank Lampard to keep the midfielder at the Etihad Stadium until the end of the season.

The 36-year-old joined the Citizens on a short-term contract in the summer which was due to expire on New Year's Day, when he would officially become a New York City FC player.

However, following an impressive first half to the campaign with the Premier League champions, an agreement was reached between the two clubs to see Lampard remain in England beyond this date.

A statement on City's official site read: "Manchester City can confirm that it has extended Frank Lampard's contract up to the end of Manchester City's season, enabling his continued participation in both domestic and European campaigns."

Lampard, who has made 16 appearances for the Citizens this term, is now eligible to face Sunderland this afternoon.
