Manchester City interested in Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci?

Manchester City are reportedly aiming to strike a deal for Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, with Pep Guardiola keen to bring in an experienced centre-back.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly identified Juventus stalwart Leonardo Bonucci as a potential signing.

Despite securing the signatures of Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake in the most recent transfer window, the Citizens are supposedly keen to bolster their defensive ranks further.

With Aymeric Laporte and John Stones the two oldest centre-backs in the squad at 26, Guardiola is believed to want a more senior figure at the Etihad Stadium - one who can organise the defence in a Vincent Kompany-like manner.

According to Todofichajes, Guardiola has earmarked 33-year-old Bonucci as the player who fits the bill, but striking a deal for the veteran defender will not prove easy.

Bonucci has been a regular in Andrea Pirlo's side this season and is tied down to the Serie A champions until 2024, so it would likely take a significant offer to prise the centre-back away from the Old Lady.

The Italy international has netted 30 goals in 420 appearances across two spells at Juventus.
