Manchester City are close to completing an £8m deal for Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph, according to reports.
The 25-year-old has been tipped with a move away from Villa Park this summer, despite penning a new long-term contract in January.
City, meanwhile, are reportedly keen to bolster their ranks with English players in order to meet home-grown regulations ahead of the new season.
James Milner, Micah Richards and Scott Sinclair have each departed the Etihad Stadium already this summer, meaning that the Citizens' quota is currently depleted.
It is claimed by Goal.com that Delph will now become Manuel Pellegrini's first major signing of the summer, using a release clause in the player's contract to land him on the cheap.
Raheem Sterling and Jack Wilshere are also thought to be on Pellegrini's radar.
