Foden still has over three years remaining on his current deal, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2027.
However, the Man City academy product is hoping to secure a pay rise that would bring him in line with the club's highest earners.
The attacker is reportedly earning around £200,000 a week after signing his most recent contract extension in October 2022.
With Foden looking to extend his stay with the Citizens, there is also a willingness from the club to agree a new deal with one of their most prized assets.

Although he is still in the early stages of his career, Foden has already won five Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Foden is expected to start when Man City travel to Anfield for Sunday's crucial Premier League encounter with title rivals Manchester City.
The Citizens are currently sitting in second place in the Premier League table, with just a point separating them from leaders Liverpool.
