Manchester City may reportedly part ways with Leroy Sane in order to sign a new defender in January.
With Sane now having just over 18 months remaining on his contract, City have been keen to hand fresh terms to the winger, who is currently sidelined with a serious knee injury.
However, according to The Athletic, the Premier League champions could be ready to sell the Germany international at the midway point of the campaign.
Having reached the maximum number of foreign players allowed in their Premier League squad, City must sell before they can include any new additions.
Sunday's setback against Liverpool - City's third top-flight defeat of the season - has allegedly left Pep Guardiola wanting to strengthen his backline at the start of 2020.
City are also aware that Bayern Munich hold a long-standing interest in Sane.
