Manchester City are told that they will have to pay £68m for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl during the January transfer window, according to a report.

Manchester City have reportedly been told that they will have to pay £68m for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl during the January transfer window.

City boss Pep Guardiola is believed to be seeking a long-term replacement for Fernandinho, and it is understood that Weigl is high on the Spaniard's wishlist.

According to the Daily Star, City have already made their interest known to Dortmund, and the Premier League champions have learned that they will have to pay £68m in order to secure his services at the start of 2019.

Weigl, who is a five-time Germany intentional, joined Dortmund from 1860 Munich in the summer of 2015 and has made over 120 appearances for the Bundesliga giant in all competitions.

City have won three and drawn one of their four Premier League matches this season and will be looking for their fourth victory of the campaign when they host Fulham next weekend.
