Manchester City reportedly fear that they will be unable to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri.
Pep Guardiola is keen to find a long-term replacement for Fernandinho, and it has been suggested over the past two months that City are prepared to spend big in order to bring in Rodri.
However, according to the Daily Mail, City are currently not confident about getting a deal over the line during the summer transfer window.
The report claims that the 22-year-old - who only moved to Atletico last summer - may show a preference towards remaining at the Spanish giants for another 12 months.
City are said to be assessing their options, with Benfica's Florentino Luis also on Guardiola's radar.
