Project Restart: Leicester City's remaining 2019-20 Premier League fixtures

Ahead of the Premier League restart next week, Sports Mole looks at the remaining fixtures facing Champions-League-chasing Leicester City.

After a break of more than three months due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Premier League is due to resume on June 17 as the 20 clubs involved look to fulfil their remaining fixtures.

While it appears inevitable that Liverpool will soon be confirmed as champions, ending a three-decade wait for a league title, many of the teams below them are still looking to achieve their targets for the season.

That includes Leicester City who, despite spending much of the campaign in the top three, have plenty of work to do in order to earn a return to the Champions League.

Although the Foxes remain eight points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United, it remains to be seen whether the behind-closed-doors settings will benefit or hinder Brendan Rodgers's team over the coming weeks.

After United have taken on Tottenham Hotspur in North London the previous night, Leicester return to action with a trip to face Watford at Vicarage Road on June 20.

That fixture, which could set the tone with regards to the remainder of the season, is followed by a home encounter against another team who are fighting to avoid the drop in Brighton & Hove Albion.

Despite what appears to be a favourable double-header, Leicester have been presented with one of the tougher run-ins, commencing the last seven outings with a meeting against Everton at Goodison Park.

A home clash with Crystal Palace and a trip to struggling Bournemouth remain on the schedule, but showdowns with Arsenal, Sheffield United and Spurs are all to come before a last-day showdown at home with Man United.

Should Rodgers and his team not progress through the early days of the resumption on the front foot, it would put the onus on results being picked up against some of their closest rivals towards the end of July.
