Half-Time Report: Stephane Sessegnon fires West Bromwich Albion ahead

West Bromwich Albion lead Manchester United 1-0 after 45 minutes of their Premier League match at The Hawthorns.

Manchester United are on course to suffer their third defeat in the Premier League this season after going into the break 1-0 down against West Bromwich Albion in this evening's match at The Hawthorns.

The hosts started the game brightly and took the lead in the eighth minute when Stephane Sessegnon was picked out by Andre Wisdom on the edge of the box, before firing a strike into the top corner.

United looked for a quick response and Robin van Persie came close when he latched on to Angel Di Maria's pass, but could not get enough power on his low shot to beat Boaz Myhill.

Di Maria was next to threaten when the home defence failed to deal with a long ball, allowing him to get a shot away that was held by the keeper.

On the half-hour mark the Argentine tried his luck again, but his swerving effort from the edge of the box was parried by Myhill.

The visitors could have found themselves further behind, but Joleon Lescott headed over when unmarked at the back post as his side maintained their lead going into the break.
