Javier Hernandez backs Mexico for success at London 2012

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez believes that Mexico will have a successful tournament at London 2012 this summer.

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is confident that his Mexico teammates will come home with an Olympic medal in the football tournament of London 2012.

The 24-year-old was originally hopeful of competing in the Games this summer before being denied the chance by Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

"Of course, I always love playing for my country but the decision was made and I'm really happy to be able to work hard with United during pre-season," Hernandez told Inside United.

"I think Mexico have a real chance and a lot of good players. It's a very good generation for our country. We won the Toulon Tournament (a annual Under-21 competition held in France), so there are a lot of hopes for the team."

Mexico begin their Olympics campaign with a fixture against South Korea today.
