Kenny Dalglish: 'Alex Ferguson's book unnecessary'

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish questions the wisdom behind Sir Alex Ferguson's autobiography.

Former Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish feels that Sir Alex Ferguson's criticism of ex-players in his autobiography is unnecessary.

Ferguson released his memoirs on Thursday and in the book, the Scot has been critical of former players Roy Keane and David Beckham amongst others.

"It was sad Sir Alex felt the need to attack them after everything they had done for him and United," Dalglish told The Mirror.

"As a manager, you are going to cross swords with players over the years and fall out with them. It is bound to happen. But why dig all that up now and berate them in public? Sir Alex did not need to settle any scores because he brought tremendous success to the club.

"He said he was not haunted by any of my signings at Liverpool [in 2011], either. Well, he may not have lost any sleep over them, but he certainly lost a few points."

Another Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher also criticised Ferguson's book.
