Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is pushing Didier Drogba "to the limit" so he can return to the side for their clash against Manchester United.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that he is trying to push Didier Drogba "to the limit" to get the striker fit for their Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday, September 18.

The 33-year-old was stretchered off after being knocked unconscious during Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Norwich City at Stamford Bridge in August.

"Let's push it to the limit to try for him to be available for Manchester United," Villas-Boas told reporters.

"He has to be authorised medically to make his full return to training. We just have to make sure that he's fully recovered before he comes back to training because that's the requirement you have to do neurologically."

The Ivorian has been ruled out of the club’s away trip to Sunderland on Saturday and the first leg of their Champions League tie with Bayer Leverkusen next Tuesday.
