On-loan midfielder Donny van de Beek admits he has something to prove during his time with Everton this season following a difficult spell with Manchester United.

Everton midfielder Donny van de Beek believes he has something to prove during his loan period.

The 24-year-old joined the Toffees for the remainder of the season during the January transfer window, being one of Frank Lampard's first signings alongside Dele Alli.

"Yes, but it is also for everyone around me," he told the Everton programme in regards to whether or not he is proving a point to the fans.

"If I play well, I do it for them, for my girlfriend and for my family and friends. I want to give joy to those people, and to the fans. Then I want to do it for myself. Of course, sometimes I am disappointed and frustrated."

The Dutch midfielder only made eight Premier League appearances for Manchester United prior to his move away from the club, and he has already featured four times in an Everton shirt.

Everton will be in action on Thursday in the FA Cup against Boreham Wood.
