Patrice Evra: 'Jack Wilshere tried to hurt me'

Patrice Evra says that Jack Wilshere deliberately tried to hurt him before he was sent off during Manchester United's 2-1 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has no doubts that Jack Wilshere was out to hurt him during his side's win over Arsenal on Saturday.

Evra scored what proved to be the decisive goal as United recorded a 2-1 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford in a clash which saw Wilshere sent off for two bookable offences.

The Gunners midfielder was given his marching orders after a challenge on the Frenchman, and the left-back is certain that the 20-year-old was trying to deliberately hurt him.

"I think he didn't look for the ball," said Evra.

"He stood on my legs and it wasn't the first time, but the referee did a good job and that's it. That's the rule of the game."

Despite Evra's claims, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that the United player made the most of the challenge.
