Sir Alex Ferguson urges his players to ignore his 25-year landmark at Old Trafford and focus on Saturday's game against Sunderland.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has urged his players to ignore the "fuss" surrounding his 25-year anniversary at the club.

Ferguson, who will turn 70 on New Years' Eve, has said that Saturday's Old Trafford fixture against Sunderland is what his players should be focusing on.

"Now we must concentrate on Sunderland and not get too distracted by all the fuss," said the Scot.

"I find it difficult to imagine I have been at the club for a quarter of a century. I still enjoy it all and a good winning performance would be a big help ensuring that I continue to do so.

"We are still very much involved in a repair job since the derby disaster."

United currently lie five points adrift of their Manchester rivals.
