Sir Alex Ferguson 'rejected approach from Inter Milan'

Sir Alex Ferguson reveals in his new book that he rejected an opportunity to join Inter Milan towards the end of his career.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he turned down a move to Inter Milan late in his career.

The Scot revealed that he was approached by a representative of the owner but rejected the move when he saw the club's future moves.

The 73-year-old also believed that he would struggle to convince his wife to make the move to mainland Europe.

In his new book Leading, Ferguson wrote: "Later in my career, I met with a representative of Massimo Moratti, the long-time owner of Inter.

"That went out of the window the moment he showed me a list of the players they were going to buy and sell, which is just as well because I would never have persuaded Cathy [his wife] to move to Italy."

Ferguson spent 27 years at Manchester United, winning 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies.
