Former Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti has revealed that club legend Javier Zanetti is poised to be offered the vice-president's role upon retiring.
The 40-year-old, who joined the club in 1995, made his final San Siro appearance during the 4-1 win over Lazio on Saturday, coming on in the 52nd minute to a rapturous applause from supporters.
"I had thought of a role as president," the 68-year-old told reporters. "But I know that he'll be vice-president, which I imagine is something prestigious for him.
"I'm glad this was thought up. It's up to him to do well in this role but he certainly will do because he has the right head for it."
Zanetti, who has won some 16 trophies throughout his 19-year Nerazzurri stint - including five Serie A titles and a Champions League - hailed the night as "unforgettable" when speaking to reporters at full time.
The former Argentina international will call time on his distinguished playing career next week as Inter conclude their 2013-14 campaign with a trip to Chievo.
