Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson warns his players not to lose their focus ahead of Saturday's visit of Sunderland in the Premier League.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has told his players to remain focused ahead of Saturday's visit of Sunderland in the Premier League.

The Red Devils opened up a six-point gap on rivals Manchester City last weekend with their 3-2 win at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite United's healthy position in the table, Ferguson now wants his squad to concentrate fully on beating the Black Cats at Old Trafford.

"The issue for us now is to maintain our form and make sure we don't do anything silly," the Scot told reporters.

"So, instead of looking at our situation it is about looking to win our next game. Our points total doesn't mean a thing to me.

"The best approach is not looking at the league table on a Sunday morning and saying it's great."

United captain Nemanja Vidic has returned to the squad for the game following a three-month absence through injury.
