Ryan Giggs could play beyond 1,000th Manchester United game

Soon-to-be 40-year-old Ryan Giggs suggests that he may play on at Man United even if he passes 1,000 games for the club, but only if he is playing well enough.

Ryan Giggs has admitted that he might extend his legendary Manchester United career further, should he pass 1,000 games for the club.

The Welshman, who turns 40 this week, made his 954th Red Devils appearance in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Cardiff City, which was his sixth outing of his 22nd Premier League season.

United manager David Moyes has recently admitted that the midfielder remains an "outstanding player", and is apparently preparing to offer him a contract extension that would likely help him reach the four-figure milestone, which is something that Giggs feels is doable if he continues to perform on the pitch.

He told Sky Sports News: "I honestly don't know. It's not something I can say that I've thought seriously about.

"If it comes great, if it doesn't I'm not going to grumble, but we'll see. If I'm playing well and enjoying it then I'll carry on."

Giggs made his debut for the Premier League champions in 1991 and has gone on to win 13 domestic titles, two Champions League trophies, four FA Cups and four League Cups.
