Manchester United's David Moyes: 'Robin van Persie injury not long-term issue'

David Moyes confirms that Robin van Persie will not play in Manchester United's clash against Bayer Leverkusen, but his groin injury is not a long-term problem.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has insisted that Robin van Persie's current fitness issues are not a long-term problem.

The Scotsman confirmed that the Netherlands international did not travel with the squad for tomorrow night's Champions League group match against Bayer Leverkusen.

However, Moyes has claimed that the groin injury suffered by Van Persie, who missed Sunday's 2-2 draw with Cardiff City, is not serious.

"It's not long-term, but we're going to keep monitoring him," Moyes said in a press conference.

The United boss also confirmed that defender Nemanja Vidic did not travel with his teammates for the encounter.
