David Moyes wants Champions League qualification wrapped up

Man United manager David Moyes urges his side to qualify for the Champions League last 16 before the final round of fixtures by beating Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.

David Moyes has highlighted the importance of victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday as Manchester United look to secure qualification to the Champions League knockout stages.

A win in Germany will guarantee the Red Devils progress as Group A winners, but a draw will also be enough to see them through to the last 16, if Shakhtar Donetsk lose to Real Sociedad.

United convincingly beat Leverkusen 4-2 in their opening game of the campaign, but Moyes has insisted that the Bundesliga outfit will present them with a real challenge at the BayArena.

"We'll have a game on our hands," he told reporters. "We have to make sure we're defensively sound and also that we go out there to win the game.

"We had a great opportunity in Sociedad to pull away further but we didn't take it. We want to try and get the work done as soon as we possibly can but, if it has to go to the last game, so be it."

Moyes also confirmed speculation that surfaced on Tuesday afternoon that neither captain Nemanja Vidic nor Robin van Persie will be fit to feature against Leverkusen.
