Mason Greenwood could reportedly be challenged on the events that have prevented him from playing for Manchester United since last January during a TV interview.

Mason Greenwood could reportedly be challenged on the off-the-field events that have prevented him from playing for Manchester United since January 2022 during a TV interview.

The 21-year-old was arrested last January on suspicion of rape and assault following accusations from a woman, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

Greenwood was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, with a trial date set for November 2023.

However, it was recently announced that all criminal charges against him had been dropped, which will allow him to continue his football career.

Man United are currently investigating the situation, with the club open to all options, including bringing him back into the first-team squad for the 2023-24 campaign.

According to The Athletic, as part of a possible return, Greenwood could face a TV interview, where he might be challenged on the events leading up to the charges.

The report claims that Man United will take into account the views of sponsors and fan groups, in addition to the club's women's team.

Greenwood would also allegedly be encouraged to take part in rehabilitation, including counselling and therapy, with the TV interview also being seriously considered by the 20-time English champions.

A recent report claimed that Man United had received loan enquiries from a number of Turkish clubs for the forward despite the fact that he has not trained in a competitive environment or took to the field for over 12 months.

Greenwood is said to have recently met with club bosses, but a final decision is not believed to be imminent.

Greenwood has scored 35 goals and registered 12 assists in 129 appearances for the English giants in all competitions since debuting in 2018.

The attacker has a contract at Old Trafford until June 2025, with the option of a further 12 months, and it is believed that his wages are in the region of £70,000 a week.

Man United are said to be considering terminating Greenwood's deal if they believe that a return would not be possible, while a permanent exit this summer via a sale is also a possibility.

The Englishman allegedly recently spoke to Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag on the phone to discuss a possible return to the first team.

Meanwhile, it is believed that he has met with some of his teammates since the charges were dropped.
