Owen Hargreaves slams Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's selection decisions during Manchester United's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United.

Owen Hargreaves has criticised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's decision-making following Manchester United's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday.

Matty Longstaff scored on his league debut to extend United's winless run on the road to 11 games and pile further pressure on Solskjaer.

Indeed, with United sitting just two points above the relegation zone, many are questioning the Norwegian's credentials for the role.

Speaking to Optus Sport soon after the game, Hargreaves said: "Think about the start of the game. One position Juan Mata has never played at Manchester United on the left wing – he starts on the left wing.

"Everybody moans that he plays on the right, then he plays on the left for some reason. [Andreas] Pereira is a No.10, he plays on the right. Rashford is struggling for confidence, we're not sure if he's a No.9. Fred, I feel sorry for him because he's struggling in a United shirt.

"You've got so many people in positions, which aren't even their own... Ashley Young was playing left-back. The only bright spark I'd say today was Tuanzebe."

Amid a run which has seen them claim two Premier League wins from 13 outings, United have a record of just one point per game since Solskjaer was appointed permanent manager.

However, despite the poor run of form, reports state that United harbour no intentions of removing the 46-year-old from his position.
