Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly informed striker Javier Hernandez that he is free to leave the club before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old has scored 59 goals in 157 appearances for the Premier League giants, but spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, where he scored nine in 33 matches.
According to The Telegraph, Van Gaal has cleared the way for Hernandez to leave the club, with German side Bayer Leverkusen leading the chase for the striker's signature.
The newspaper also claims that van Gaal is prepared to give Marouane Fellaini, James Wilson, Adnan Januzaj and Memphis Depay a chance to play up front ahead of the Mexican international, while the club is still interested in signing Sadio Mane from Southampton.
United will take on Swansea City later on Sunday.
