Everton's academy boss Alan Irvine 'to join Manchester United'

Everton's academy manager Alan Irvine will reportedly join David Moyes at Manchester United as part of the club's backroom staff.

Everton's academy manager Alan Irvine is reportedly expected to become the latest to join David Moyes's backroom staff at Manchester United.

The Scotsman, who is taking over from the recently-retired Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, has already reportedly poached first-team coach Jimmy Lumsden and goalkeeping coach Chris Woods from Goodison Park.

It is believed that Irvine, who was assistant boss at Everton between 2002 and 2007, is expected to join Moyes at his new job with the Premier League champions, according to the Daily Mail.

The news comes after the departures of United assistant manager Mike Phelan, goalkeeping coach Eric Steele and coach Rene Meulensteen.
