Jonny Evans wary of Liverpool ahead of clash at Old Trafford

Manchester United defender Jonny Evans insists that he and his teammates will have to produce their best football to get a positive result against Liverpool.

Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has warned his side that Liverpool will still pose a threat in Sunday's Premier League match, despite their poor run of recent form.

Brendan Rodgers's side crashed out of the Champions League as they failed to beat Basel at Anfield on Tuesday, while the ninth-place Reds have also been inconsistent in the top flight this campaign.

Evans is adamant that form counts for very little in the fixture, and still feels that Liverpool have a lot of quality players at their disposal.

"We are in a bit of form in terms of results and Liverpool are not but all form goes out of the window in these games and anything can happen," he told the club's official website.

"I haven't seen many of their games this season, but I watched a bit of the one in the Champions League the other night against Basel.

"Obviously, they were under a wee bit of pressure to get a big result that they didn't get in the end. Luis Suarez has gone and maybe they aren't as strong, but they've still got some fantastic players who can still create magic on the pitch and that is something we will have to be careful of."

United are seven points ahead of their old rivals in the table ahead of their meeting at Old Trafford.
