Roy Keane lined up to join Manchester United as assistant manager?

Roy Keane is a candidate to become Manchester United's new assistant manager, according to reports.

Roy Keane has reportedly emerged as a candidate to become Manchester United's new assistant manager.

The club are making plans to employ new staff after sacking David Moyes on Tuesday, and are believed to be keen to have former players involved in the new setup.

According to The Independent, Louis van Gaal, who is one of the favourites to be named manager, would be eager to work with Keane at Old Trafford.

Keane, who spent 12 years as a player with United, is currently working as an assistant to Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill.

On the day that Moyes was sacked, Keane claimed that the players at the club should be ashamed of their performances this season.
