Manchester United have reportedly planned to make an approach for Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino during Ligue 1's winter break.
Following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday, the Argentinian has been heavily linked with the vacant post at Old Trafford, having reportedly been a target for the Red Devils for several years.
According to Evening Standard, the Manchester United hierarchy have now considered making their move during the French top flight's winter break spanning the end of December and first week of January, with the league leaders more willing to allow an exit if they have time to find a replacement.
The former Tottenham Hotspur manager reportedly claimed he would leave Les Parisiens with immediate effect to take the job at Old Trafford, and he is now heavily fancied as the frontrunner to take over following Michael Carrick's temporary spell in charge.
Solskjaer departed following a 4-1 defeat to Watford on Saturday, leaving the Red Devils eighth in the Premier League having won just one of their last seven games in the top flight.
