Paul Scholes to be offered Manchester United coaching role?

Manchester United are reportedly planning to offer Paul Scholes a coaching role at the club, despite his public criticism of vice chairman Ed Woodward.

Manchester United are reportedly planning to offer Paul Scholes a coaching role next season, despite the ex-midfielder not expecting to stay on at Old Trafford.

The 39-year-old returned to the Red Devils to assist interim manager Ryan Giggs for the final four games of the season following David Moyes's departure.

In his column for Paddy Power, Scholes admitted that he does not expect to be part of the coaching team under new manager Louis van Gaal for the 2014-15 campaign.

However, according to the Daily Star, executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is planning to hold talks with Scholes about possibly taking on a coaching role with the reserve and youth teams.

Woodward is said to be happy for Scholes to have a future at the club, despite the retired professional questioning the vice-chairman's ability to bring top players to United this summer.
