Scott McTominay reveals that he is desperate to lift some silverware with Manchester United this season.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has insisted that the success of the team will always be more important than individual accolades.

The 22-year-old picked up United's Player of the Month award for October having impressed for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side over the last month.

The recent departures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera, coupled with Paul Pogba's injury problems, have seen McTominay take on a leading role for the 20-time English champions this term.

The United fans recognised the Scotland international for his contribution last month, but McTominay is desperate to lift some silverware alongside his teammates during the 2019-20 campaign.

"It's pleasing to win a couple of individual trophies, it's a nice feeling," McTominay told United's official website. "But it's difficult when we've had a lot of games. It's a very, very busy period and three or four of the lads could have easily won it as well. So I was fortunate and I thank the fans for voting for me.

"The more important thing is that, when it comes to the business side of the season, we're there or thereabouts and we can win things collectively as a group. That's what everybody is dying for in that changing room.

"We could have three trophies this season and it's something that we're really looking forward to and aspiring to in terms of a group and our goals as well. It's brilliant to win player of the month, but it's about the collective and I wouldn't be able to win it without my teammates."

United booked their spot in the knockout round of the Europa League with of a 3-0 win over Partizan at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
