Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku is reportedly in need of a rest after allegedly being 'run into the ground' by manager Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku has allegedly been left in need of a break having been overworked by manager Jose Mourinho in recent months.

Lukaku has made 61 appearances for United since joining the club in July last year, and at least 10 more outings have been made for Belgium with the country reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup.

The 25-year-old has not scored in his last five appearances for United, and a source has told The Sun that the striker requires a rest.

The report adds that Lukaku may be left out of Belgium's next squad in order to spend some time away from the pitch and training ground, and it is a move which will likely be backed by the North-West giants.

United only sit in 10th place in the Premier League table after recording just three wins from their opening seven matches.
