Jose Mourinho gives frosty response when asked about Marouane Fellaini decision

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho gives a frosty response when asked why he brought on Marouane Fellaini, who gave away a late penalty against Everton.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho hit out a reporter's intelligence when asked why he brought on Marouane Fellaini, who cost the club all three points against Everton.

Fellaini, who spent five years at the Merseyside club before joining United in 2013, was on the field for just one minute before he gave away a penalty by fouling Idrissa Gueye in the box at Goodison Park.

Leighton Baines slotted home from the spot to earn the Toffees a 1-1 draw - United's third consecutive score draw in the Premier League.

During his post-match press conference, Mourinho was asked why he decided to introduce the Belgian midfielder, to which he replied: "What do you mean by that? I thought you would know more about football than you do. It is obvious. Everton is not a passing team. They play direct. Everything is direct. Goalkeeper - direct. Ashley Williams - direct. Funes Mori - direct.

"Everything is direct, and when a team is losing a plays direct, when you have a player on the bench with two metres [in height] you play the player in front of the defensive line to help the team to win the match."

United have won just twice in their last 11 top-flight games, which has left them sixth in the table, nine points off the top four and 13 adrift of leaders Chelsea.
